PlotCheck uses Gemini, Google's AI model, to extract who's where, what's already been established, and what's been promised. It reads every chapter in full.
Cross-chapter patterns get flagged, then re-verified against the real passage they came from. Anything that doesn't hold up gets dropped, not reported. You only see what survives that check.
What it is, why it matters, and which chapters it touches: that's always included with every issue found. AI-drafted suggested edits are a separate add-on you turn on if you want them. Plenty of authors want problems flagged without AI touching how the fix gets written, so that's not the default.

PlotCheck reads a manuscript you upload (.docx, .epub, or .txt) and reports continuity errors, world-fact contradictions, timeline problems, pacing issues, trope patterns, and spice-level estimates, depending on which checks you select. Analysis is performed using Gemini, Google's AI model. An optional add-on, Fix Suggestions, drafts possible edits for issues found; it only runs if you turn it on for a given check.
You need an account to run a check. Keep your login credentials to yourself and use an email address you actually control, since it's how we deliver verification and password-reset links. One account per person; don't share credentials or resell access.
PlotCheck runs on prepaid credits, sold in packs, not a subscription. There's nothing to cancel and nothing renews automatically. Before you run a check, you're shown the exact credit cost for the checks and chapter range you picked. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
You own your manuscript and everything in it, fully and exclusively. Uploading it to PlotCheck doesn't transfer or license any of that to us beyond what's needed to generate your report. Your manuscript text is held in memory only for the duration of a run, sent to Google's Gemini API to produce the analysis, and discarded once your report is built. It is never written to a database or a file, never used to train any model, and never shared with anyone beyond that transaction. We use the paid Gemini API tier, and under Google's terms for that tier, content sent through it isn't used to train their models either.
Only upload work you have the rights to. Don't use PlotCheck for anything illegal, don't attempt to abuse, scrape, or automate the service outside normal use, and don't try to reverse-engineer it.
Every finding is cross-checked against your actual text before it's shown to you, but AI analysis can still miss things or get things wrong. PlotCheck is an editorial aid, not a substitute for a human editor or your own judgment, and you decide what to do with any finding or suggested edit.
PlotCheck is provided as-is. We aim for reliable uptime but don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
To the extent allowed by law, PlotCheck isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for creative and editorial decisions you make based on a report. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
You can close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or disable an account for abuse, fraud, or violation of these terms.
We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the last revision; continuing to use PlotCheck after an update means you accept the new terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Your manuscript text, the per-chapter extractions built from it, and the individual findings behind a report all exist only in server memory for the life of that run, and are discarded the moment it finishes. None of that is ever written to our database or to disk, restart or no restart.
The one exception is the finished report itself: unlike the manuscript and the intermediate analysis behind it, the report is deliberately saved, tied to your account, so it's still there if you come back for it next week. Deleting your account deletes every stored report along with it.
We don't run analytics or advertising trackers, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
PlotCheck sets two cookies, both essential: one keeps you signed in, the other lets your session refresh without logging you out. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.
Account and billing data is kept for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account yourself from the account menu; after a 7-day grace period (to protect against accidental deletion or a compromised session), your account and the data described in section 1 are permanently erased. Logging back in during those 7 days cancels the deletion automatically and keeps your account exactly as it was.
PlotCheck isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
Sample report
These findings come from Crown of Cinders, a fictional 24-chapter romantasy we keep around for exactly this. Every real report has this shape: what it is, why it matters, which chapters it touches, and the passages that prove it.
Seraphine leaves the dagger buried in the warden's table in chapter 5 and never retrieves it, but draws it from her boot in chapter 8. Readers who clocked the sacrifice in ch. 5 will notice.

Chapter 6 sets the ball "tomorrow at dusk." Chapters 7 and 8 each cover a full day (a ride to the border and back), yet chapter 9 opens on the morning of the ball. At least two days are unaccounted for.

The capital is spelled Vael'ith in 19 places and Vaelith in 4. Copy editors charge by the pass; this is a five-minute find-and-replace now.
